Attachment Systems

Page Contents:

Introduction

This page covers any kind of attachment systems for attaching something to the tree, including:

  • Platform
  • Climbing Stick
  • Gear

Platform Attachment

Although most platforms have one attachment point, the methods below can be modified to work with platforms with two. If a platform was designed for use with one attachment point (receiving tension from both sides evenly), we should not assume it is OK to tension it from one side only.

BHT Platform Attachment

This 2025 video demonstrates JRB’s current preference for platform attachment. The links to the videos for the necessary knots are cited in the video description. Materials needed:

  • 9-12′ of 8mm Rope
  • 16′ of 6mm Cord
  • A small piece of 1″ tubular webbing

Mechanical Advantage System

This 2023 video demonstrates how JRB designed a platform attachment system with mechanical advantage system.

This is the Compact JRB Ascender hitch shown in the video:

Stick Attachment

Methods for Climbing Sticks are covered below.

The JRB Ascender hitch can be used as described for stick or platform attachment:
