Overview
An adjustable loop is used for utility applications such as creating an adjustable sling or an removable adjustable bridge. Think of it as a “ring” or “sling” of cordage with an adjustable size. Knowledge of how to tie a Blake’s hitch is considered pre-requisite:

Blakes Hitch Loop
The simplest adjustable loop is to simply tie a single piece of cord into a loop using a Blake’s Hitch.
Blakes Hitch Tensioner
This Blake’s Hitch Tensioner is a handy device and can be shortened with just one hand. The following are the recommended sizes for the working end, although more cord could be needed if using a host object which is much larger than a carabiner:
- For 7mm cord, use 32″ or 81 cm
- For 6mm cord, use 30″or 76 cm
